What is the Emsella Pelvic floor treatment?

Emsella is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment designed to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles using High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology. It's primarily used to address urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic floor weakness in both men and women.

How It Works

During an Emsella session, you sit fully clothed on a specially designed chair that emits electromagnetic energy to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles.

Each 28 to 30-minute session induces thousands of supramaximal muscle contractions—equivalent to performing over 11,000 Kegel exercises.

These contractions help to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, restoring neuromuscular control and improving bladder function.

Conditions Treated

Emsella is effective for:

  • Stress urinary incontinence: Leakage during activities like coughing, sneezing, or exercising.
  • Urge incontinence: Sudden, intense urges to urinate.
  • Mixed incontinence: A combination of stress and urge incontinence.
  • Postpartum pelvic floor weakness: Muscle weakening after childbirth.
  • Sexual dysfunction: Including decreased satisfaction and difficulty achieving orgasm.
  • Fecal incontinence: Loss of bowel control.

Treatment Experience

  • Non-invasive: No surgery or needles involved.
  • Comfortable: Patients remain fully clothed and can relax during the session.
  • No downtime: Resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
  • Quick sessions: Each session lasts about 30 minutes.
  • Typical regimen: Six sessions over three weeks, with many patients noticing improvements after just two or three sessions.

Who Should Avoid Emsella?

Emsella is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or have metal implants, pacemakers, or other implanted electronic devices.

If you're considering Emsella, consult with a healthcare provider to determine if it's the right treatment for your specific needs.
